Frequently asked questions
Who can benefit from therapy?
Therapy and counselling can benefit people from all walks of life. The therapeutic process can work to heal many difficulties including anxiety, stress, depression, addiction, anger, sexuality, identity, trauma, loss of a sense of meaning, bereavement and relationship issues.
There may be one issue someone wants to address. Often, there can be multiple concerns. We can discuss this during our initial consultation and decide what you would like to work on.
What kind of therapy do you offer?
I am a BACP registered therapeutic-counsellor, working in an integrative transpersonal modality. This means I draw on various schools of thought and tailor the therapy to you.
I work in a classic talk based context and take a whole-person and whole-life approach. This means we will draw on your past experiences, as well as your current lived experience and any hopes or worries you may have for your future.
What happens in a first session?
In our first session we will discuss what brings you to therapy. We will consider whether we are the right fit to work together and the direction our sessions might take.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are fifty minutes.
How often would we have sessions?
Sessions are usually at the same time each week. The number of sessions a client has depends on individual need.
Regularity and consistency of attendance is integral to the work. Your weekly session is reserved for you, and a minimum of two weeks is required for cancellations.
I realise that some people work on shift-patterns. With advance notice I will do my best to accommodate requests for a temporary change to an appointment.
Are sessions confidential?
Sessions are confidential and I comply with the BACP ethical framework.
Where is your office?
I work in-person. I do also offer some online appointments. My practice is beside London Bridge station and close to Borough Market in central London (SE1).
What about fees?
I operate a sliding scale for fees which I'm happy to discuss in our initial chat or during our first session. Bank transfer or cash is accepted.
What days are you available to work?
I work from Monday to Thursday, up to 9pm. Feel free to contact me and find out whether there's a time that could work for you.
